A Morning In Eze, France

Wow, there are just so many stories I wish I could share with you from our trip to the South of France. I decided to start with one of my favorite days, which was spent in Eze, France.

France was as dreamy and gorgeous as I had imagined it would be. From stone streets lined with overgrown florals, to Mediterranean beaches, to historic pastel buildings. Around every corner were beautiful landscapes just waiting to be captured on camera. There’s no wonder why art is on display everywhere you turn.

We began our French Riviera trip in Nice, France, where we booked a beautiful French Apartment on AirBnb. On our first full day in France, we decided to visit two local towns. The first was Eze, France which is just a few minutes down the coast from Nice, and is easily accessible by train or by Uber.

We decided to take an Uber so that we could enjoy the scenery along the way. I truly wish I had video of our faces as we rounded the corner in our Mercadez Benz Uber to see this stunning view. We thought we had somehow found our way into a movie.

About 20 minutes later, our Uber driver dropped us off at the base of the enchanting hill top village. At this point, it was about 9 am and we were hungry! We decided to pop into a local bakery, and in our best broken french, ordered some Pain au chocolat (chocolate crossaints) and some Torsades aux pépites de chocolat (chocolate twists).

We took our french pastries to-go, and after accidentally walking about a half mile away from the entrance of Eze (whoops!), finally found the perfect spot to enjoy our breakfast. While we ate, I admired the artwork of the local painter who lives in this hillside home.

After breakfast, we began wandering the narrow streets of the village. Eze dates back to the medieval period, so you truly feel like you have been transported back in time. We enjoyed the many art galleries and boutiques along the way. With every corner we turned, we were left more and more in awe of the architecture and breathtaking scenery.

We eventually made it to the very top of Eze, where we learned that there is a botanical garden and a lookout overlooking the Mediterranean. We snapped a few photos at the lookout and took a few minutes to just soak in what we were looking at. Pictures could never come close to capturing how beautiful that view was.

At this point in the day, we realized that we were both pretty dehydrated and hungry. We decided to walk back down the hill to an Italian restaurant we had passed earlier in the morning. Although Eze is located in France, it is also very close to the Italian boarder. We were so excited to enjoy some authentic Italian Carbonara.

We finished our morning (and early afternoon) in Eze, France by wandering a few more narrow streets, snapping a few more pictures, and strolling through a few more boutiques. One of my favorite shops was Fragonard Perfumeur, which is a perfume shop located at the base of the hill. Our luggage was quite small so I didn’t bring any perfume home with me on this trip, but I already have my favorite added to my Christmas list for this year.

Check back soon to see our favorite photos from our day trip to Ville France Ser Mur.
